ABOUT ME

I am a costume maker, graduated from Arts University Bournemouth, with a BA (hons) in Costume and Performance Design.

While still at AUB, I reached out to costume designer Silje Kise, who was working on a concert performance called “Sustain” at the time. I volunteered to help her out the weeks I was at home on holiday, which both her and the rest of the crew gladly and gratefully accepted.
I had a wonderful time working on this show, helping with both costumes and props, and I was happy to learn they had appreciated my work as well:

"Julie was a good addition to our team. She brought a lot of energy into her work, and really contributed a lot in these two weeks. She understood quickly what was needed, and worked independently." (from my letter of reference, written by Silje Kise).

After graduating in 2018, I returned home to Bergen and started as a costume freelancer in my home town.

My first big job out of university was with Bergen Borgerscene. I designed the costumes and made masks for their fourth production, “NAV Betaler”. This play premiered at the Bergen International Festival in 2019. After finishing the costumes and designs, I went on to do a six-month contract with Norwegian Cruise Lines, as a wardrobe supervisor.

This too was a great experience as I was in charge of the costumes by myself at sea, and worked as a one-woman costume department for the cast. I was their dresser, costume laundry and seamstress.I really enjoyed being in charge of my own little workroom and costumes for these short musical shows, and I learned a lot from it.

I have been working as a freelancer here in Bergen since autumn 2020. I have had the opportunity to explore different areas of entertainment, such as puppetry, dance shows, and film!
