Fargespill - "A Kiss For All The World"
COSTUME CONSULTANT - COSTUME MAKER
Fargespill is an organisation founded by musician Ole Hamre and Sissel Saue.
They started their work in 2003, and since then their project has grown and expanded, becoming quite known nationwide.
Fargespill started in Bergen but has been expanding to ther places in the country as well, such as Oslo and Trodheim.
In 2019 the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra reached out to Fargespill, asking them to join the Orcherstra in re/imaginening Beethovens 9th Symphony. This was part of celebrating 250 years since the composers birth, and was due to take place in 2020.
We finally got to perform the show in 2022, in both Grieghallen in Bergen and the Norwegian Ballet and Opera in Oslo.
I was brought in as a consultant, and helped stylize this production - consisting of 80 kids and young adults with the age span from 6-25 years old - through a colour palette and elements from both carnival and Beethovens time period. As the peice was musically deconstucted and played around with to fit music from Rwanda, Uganda, Turkey, hiphop, rap and more, we wanted to do the same with the clothes worn on stage.
As Fargespill has a focus of letting kids express themselves and show their personality, i worked closley with the performers to come to an agreement of what to wear, that still fit in our scenic universe.
